The Hive Hierarchy
This hierarchy of the hive will be a continual work in progress as we add, remove and reorder people and groups. It is important to understand that members of the royalty caste are not allies. There are many hives in the world. Some cooperate with each other while others are in conflict. This dynamic is in constant flux as allegiances change.
The Royalty Caste
The Royalty Caste weld a great deal of power over the hive. Their goal is to control the world, openly or covertly. Many are very wealthy or socially/politically powerful. They also tend to be older and wish to leave their mark on the world in their final years and after their deaths.
The Drone Caste
The Drone Caste wield power via their position in areas like media, universities, NGOs, and industry. Few will ever make the transition into the Royalty Caste. They are content to be cogs in the hive with a little bit of power.
The Worker Caste
The Worker Caste are just that, soldiers who are largely tools of those above them. Unable to succeed on their own merits they get their small amount of power by following orders. They lack original thinking skills. They are more than willing to use violence to advance the interest of the hive. The Royalty Caste think nothing of sacrificing the Workers if it advances their cause.
The Larvae
The Larvae are newcomers to the hive. They are desperate to belong to the hive but they have not yet proven themselves worthy into joining the Worker Caste. They are often sacrificial lambs for the hive. They are mostly poor and as such not very useful to the hive.
