Is it Time for a Citizen's Justice Department?
…when the government no longer fears its people…
What if there was a government agency with the powers of the Justice Department but could only act against the government…it would in fact work explicitly for the average Joe.
One can dream.
Imagine an agency entrusted with protecting the rights of the people when those rights are trampled on by its own government. But we have the courts, you’ll say. Have you tried suing the government? Good luck with that.
We have means to appeal when regulatory agencies exceed their authority…but that means appealing to the same body that ruled against you. Do you really think they are going to be sympathetic to your cause? Look to people suing when they suffer an adverse impact from a vaccine.
Well, there are our elected leaders. Surly we can appeal to them. Believe it or not, that does some times work…if you are rich or influential or give them political donations you can be sure they’ll be receptive. But what about the average American? Yeah, good luck with that.
The government is the biggest, most powerful entity in this country, in fact the world, this side of the CCP in China. The sad reality is you are nothing but a social security number to them. In fact, if you complain too loudly you might find yourself being checked out by other government agencies if you rock the boat. Big brother looks after its own.
They have gotten too big. They don’t work for us anymore. They’ve evolved beyond our control. They know it, and we know it.
So we need a safeguard, an agency that any citizen can go to to seek justice. It would have the power to investigate, subpoena, and prosecute any government agency that exceeds its lawful authority. It can levy fines, redress illegal acts, and yes, even prosecute individual officials if they break the law. This would include members of the Justice Department itself. Anyone.
Wouldn’t that be something, an agency that works for us for a change, and only us?
As I wrote earlier, one can dream.
